The scale and urgency of the transformation required to fight climate change has never been more clear. Building hardware and software products, acquiring the funding and creating a diverse community to enhance talent capacity and to drive innovation, is essential to tackling this global environmental crisis. In this podcast, host Silicon Valley Bank (a division of First Citizens Bank) Climate Tech & Sustainability SVP Maggie Wong will be interviewing JUUNOO Founder Chris Van de Voorde to discuss turning interior walls into a circular economy business, scaling a circular economy startup from Belgium to rapid growth in the U.S., and the product design philosophy of relentlessly minimizing components to build simple, great products.

Chris Van de Voorde founded JUUNOO to help commercial real estate teams handle shorter lease terms, demand of tenants for flexibility and the waste generated by changing fit-out of offices. JUUNOO’s solutions shorten build times and make it easier to reconfigure offices and other commercial environments over the life of the building, supporting both speed on day one and agility over time. Under his leadership, JUUNOO has developed innovative modular solutions like, acoustic meeting pods, clickable drywall and a buyback program, leading the way in circular economy in commercial real estate. This approach has earned JUUNOO recognition as the winner of the Henry Van de Velde EcoDesign award, Circular Business Award and two times Deloitte Fast 50 sustainability category winner. To further his commitment to impact, Chris co-founded the Circular Value Institute (CVI), a non-profit with a mission to promote Circular Value worldwide. The CVI measures products’ shareholder value in a circular use case, leading to better product design and profitable circular business models. He holds a master’s degree in industrial design. Named after his children, Juul and Noor, JUUNOO reflects Chris’s personal dedication to building a better future for the next generation, where profitable reuse and efficiency are the foundations of our society.
